Presence Film
The acclaimed director pushes his film-making abilities with this clever ghostly tale captured wholly from the perspective of the phantom. The Black Phone Horror
Derrickson's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a continuation. Set in the late 70s in Denver, several kidnappings has left the children anxious. But the old telephone in the room repeatedly calls, with ghostly voices providing assistance, and the prophetic visions of his sister Gwen may be his salvation. An effective horror. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for greed in this director's delightfully tacky film adaptation of the disgraced TV preacher and her felon spouse. Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who states initially, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye commence profiting from the people's Christian beliefs. It's a riot of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, however Jessica Chastain manages to depict the character in a likable light. October 14th, early morning, the Film4 channel
